Nicknamed “Ile au Soleil” (the Island in the Sun), Alpe d’Huez is certainly the resort where the sun is the most generous due to its high altitude at the foot of the Grandes Rousses Mountains. Internationally renowned, Alpe d’Huez is situated on a fully south-facing plateau in the French Alps which provides it with a microclimate (300 days of sunshine per year) and offers a magnificent panorama of the prestigious summits of Oisans.

Skiing is a tradition since the resort was founded in 1936. Nestled at an altitude of 1850m, Alpe d’Huez opens onto one of the largest ski areas in France. Domaine de l'Alpe d’Huez will delight both beginners and experiences skiers and gather 5 ski resorts (Alpe d’Huez, Auris-en-Oisans, Villard Reculas, Oz-en-Oisans & Vaujany).

70 ski lifts

Skiers will have easy access to the entire area via the 70 ski lifts, some of them are also accessible to pedestrians, allowing them to easily admire wonderful snow-covered landscapes.

Boardercross, snow park, slalom stadium, secure areas for beginners, everything is done so everyone has an active and unforgettable holiday.

Free city shuttles in alpe d'huez

From Tuesday until Friday, a dedicated Tomorrowland Winter shuttle will connect the ski lifts going to the Mountain Stages. Between 12:00 and 17:30, there will be a shuttle available every 10 minutes. 

If you are coming from Frozen Lotus and are going to Crystal Garden or Reflection of Love stage, you can take the shuttle at "Rond-point de l'Europe". 

If you are coming from Crystal Garden or the Reflection of Love stage and would like to go to Frozen Lotus stage, you can take shuttle at "Rond-point des pistes". 

Free city shuttles run on 4 circuits (A, B, C and night line) allowing you to move easily between the ski slopes and the different districts of Alpe d'Huez. Information and timetables are available soon via www.alpedhuez-resalp.com.

  9. The highest point in the ski area is Le Pic Blanc with an altitude of more than 3330m. It’s said that you can see ⅕ of France on a sunny day. 

  10. The sea of clouds: The resort emerges often like an island from a soft blanket of clouds because of the good weather conditions.
